Description of Duties: Under limited supervision, applies professional expertise to activities and projects related to Georgia’s participation as a “governing state” in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) consortium. The applicant should possess knowledge of design, development, and characteristics of large-scale assessments. Additionally, a knowledge of current issues related to state and national kindergarten through twelfth grade large-scale assessments including: the common core state standards, alignment with post-secondary expectations, development of performance tasks, computer-based assessments, formative assessments, and end of course assessments. This position will require the management of large-scale field testing across Georgia that will occur under the auspices of PARCC. Other required competencies include: ability to establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with professionals from other educational entities (schools, districts, and states), ability to manage multiple projects with many highly complex tasks, skills in the analysis and interpretation of information and data, generation of written reports and presentations using effective written and oral communication using the English language. The applicant should possess the ability to work and complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction, plan and coordinate projects that are large in scope, meet strict deadlines, the ability to think analytically, troubleshoot data anomalies and to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in educational measurement, educational psychology, educational research, educational leadership or a related area and two years professional work experience in large-scale assessment, curriculum development and implementation, secondary programs, and/or education program evaluation; experience managing projects with multiple, complex tasks that require collaboration and communication with multiple staff and stakeholders; excellent oral and written communications skills; proficient in Microsoft Office . Note - Doctorate-level coursework in educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: • Five years of educational or instructional leadership, management, and supervision leading successful reform efforts involving educational assessments • Doctorate degree in education administration, educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field • System or school experience in K-12 education • School experience in 9-12 education • Knowledge of high school course requirements and schedule formats • Experience in contract management • Knowledge in educational research • Experience with district or state-level test administration
Salary/Benefits: Pay Grade 20 – $57,172.55 (minimum) - $100,124.90 (maximum). Hiring range is $57,172.55 to $83,500.00 based on current employment and relevant education/training and work experience. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
