Description of Duties: Under the limited supervision of the Associate Superintendent for School Turnaround and Director of School Improvement Grants (SIG), serves as the lead project manager for multiple highly-visible projects under the Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) School Turnaround Initiative. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing appropriate project oversight for all projects necessary for the successful implementation of Georgia’s School Turnaround plan; developing detailed project plans, milestones, and timelines; ensuring that all projects meet plan objectives; making strategic decisions; ensuring that projects stays on schedule and within budget; providing detailed project updates, conducts quarterly site visits; establishing procedures in collaboration with School Turnaround leadership staff for proposing, reviewing, approving, implementing, and communicating modifications and changes to various aspects of the project; providing detailed School Turnaround project updates and reports to senior management and leadership groups; providing quality technical expertise to support all of the projects; effectively managing the projects’ budgets and contracts; facilitating an effective system of internal and external communication; effectively monitoring local school districts on progress in SIG Transformation and Turnaround intervention model areas; maintaining current knowledge and professional expertise and applying this to the performance of job responsibilities; creating and maintaining a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation; and effectively collaborating with other agencies, local school districts, and GaDOE staff to meet project objectives.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, or a related field and three years of directly related project management experience which includes successfully managing large-scale projects from conception through implementation OR Associate’s Degree and five years of aforementioned experience. Experience must include negotiating and managing of contracts, the ability to effectively prioritize and establish guidelines, and the ability to effectively collaborate within and across organizational lines. Note: Relevant project management experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: • Master’s Degree or higher in information systems, business administration, or a related field. • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent credentials • Experience in data analysis and the organization and implementation of major school initiatives • Experience with K-12 school improvement programs • Excellent communication skills
Salary/Benefits: Pay grade 20 - $57,289.84 (minimum) to $100,124.90 (maximum). Hiring salary range is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, work experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
