Description of Duties: Under limited supervision on behalf of the School Nutrition Division, develops and implements an effective and efficient methodology for providing intensive technical support to local school systems that are seriously deficient in federal accountability standards, primarily in areas related to, but not limited to, the Coordinated Review Effort and School Meals Initiative. Other accountability areas of concern could include, but are not limited to, the School Breakfast Program, After School Snack Program and Seamless Summer Nutrition Program. Duties include performing statewide accountability activities, including on-site reviews, and focused technical support for local school districts that have been identified as deficient in one or more school nutrition program federal accountability standards; identifying staff development needs; designing and implementing professional learning programs, sessions, activities and evaluation tools designed to improve and report on local system compliance with federal accountability regulations; creating and managing designated contacts; serving as a liaison between other agencies; providing consultative services and training in area of specialty; interpreting applicable state and federal laws, regulations and policies; interacting with all appropriate levels of federal, state, and local government in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation, and contributes to excellent performance; assisting local systems and boards in the implementation of overall goals; displaying a high level of effort and commitment to the vision/mission of the Georgia Department of Education and State School Superintendent in all interactions.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in education, education administration, nutrition or a related field with strong emphasis on school nutrition programs and three years of full-time leadership experience with K-12 school nutrition programs. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification. Note: Must submit required certification documentation with resume and cover letter or application.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: • Experience managing federal grants and state/local contracts • Experience in Nutrition Education • Experience in policy development • ServSafe® Certified (Instructor) • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Nutri-Kids (nutrient analysis software used for School Meals Initiative [SMI] Reviews)
Salary/Benefits: Pay grade 18 – Annual salary range $47,280.21 (minimum) to $82,962.30 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
