| Description of Duties: |
Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or knowledge of, the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. Assists teacher with providing a comprehensive educational program to meet the needs of hearing impaired students. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials; maintaining order and cleanliness in an educational environment; assisting students with physical needs; monitoring student behavior; and observing and reporting student progress. Assist students with instructional needs individually and in small groups and tutoring student in core subject areas. |
| Minimum Qualifications: |
Two years of study at an Institution of Higher Learning; (60 semester hrs. or 90 quarter hrs. regional accredited) or Obtained an Associate’s (or higher Degree); Demonstrate, through a formal academic assessment ability to instruct in reading, writing, and mathematics. Effective use of American Sign Language. |
| Preferred Qualifications: |
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Three years of college
• Two years of successful experience as a paraprofessional
• Intermediate sign language skills |
| Salary/Benefits: |
Pay grade 8 - Annual salary range $14,959.16 minimum to $25,388.59 (maximum). This is a 10-month position paid on a 12-month basis. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and Employees’ Retirement. |
