Larry E. Winter
Ninth Congressional District

Larry Winter is a Certified Public Accountant and Managing Partner of Winter & Scoggins CPAs with offices in Dalton and Calhoun. A graduate of the University of Florida (BSBA ’71), Mr. Winter is also board certified as a Certified Valuation Analyst, Certified Fraud Examiner and Personal Financial Planning Specialist.

Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Larry to the State Board of Education in 2006. He currently serves as Chairman of the Budget Committee and the Board Liaison to Georgia’s Bright from the Start Pre-K Program.

Larry is very active in civic and business affairs and has been named to the White House Conference on Small Business (1979); The Georgia State Board of Workers Compensation Advisory Council (1991-2004) and the Georgia State Bar Fee Arbitration Council from 1987-present. He received the Georgia Sheriff’s Association Distinguished Humanitarian Award in 1981 and was named a Hixon Fellow by Kiwanis International in 2000. Larry Winter and his wife, Connie, have lived in Northwest Georgia for many years, because “they had the right to choose.” The parents of four children, they were active in their local elementary school for 15 consecutive years, holding every imaginable office from “Story Dad” to president of the PTA. Additionally, Larry served as Chair of the Dalton/Whitfield Education Revolution Alliance which focused on improving student achievement and adult literacy in their community. The Winters are active in Fellowship Bible Church in Dalton, GA where Larry serves as a lay leader.
